Dawn’s specialties include relationship conflict, life-stage transitions, infidelity, and parental alienation
We all yearn for fulfilling relationships with our partners, family, and other important people in our social circles. Sometimes, we need help navigating the complexities of our connections. I believe the therapeutic experience can help clients better understand themselves and their relational needs. I received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, and a master’s degree in Early Childhood Development from Loyola. I have previous experience working with children who were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and their families. The most rewarding aspect of that work was being able to witness the transformation of families as they became attuned to each other’s needs.
My clinical interest is working with couples and families who are facing challenges in their relationships. I have specific interests in relationship conflict, life-stage transitions, infidelity, and parental alienation. I utilize models of therapy that are strength-based and non-judgmental. I strongly believe that therapeutic settings need be safe, nurturing, adaptable, and empowering. My approach focuses on helping clients understand and express emotions, identify and change unhealthy interactional patterns, and heal past wounds.
My hobbies are competing in ballroom dance and restoring historical homes. Through dance, I have learned that feeling safe in a partnership allows for vulnerability and better connection. If you are “stuck” on your dance floor or the music of your life is not motivating you forward, it takes courage to take the first step. I look forward to meeting you.
