Cara Chill, MS, LMFT, specializes in treating anxiety, depression, and relationship issues.
Profoundly passionate in working with members of the LGBTQIA+ and GNC community.
Cara works alongside her clients to help them identify and achieve their therapeutic goals. Cara takes a collaborative and affirming stance and believes in recognizing client’s internal resources to aid in the therapeutic process. Cara holds a certification in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (C-DBT) and currently receives training and supervision for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Cara is profoundly passionate in working with members of the LGBTQIA+ and GNC community. Her areas of interest include gender processing and exploration, reconciling sexual orientation and religious beliefs, culturally sensitive couple and family therapy, intersectional individual, couple, and family therapy, and non-monogamy, polyamory, and other relationship structures. Cara aims to foster a safe and empowering atmosphere to work on skill development and personal growth and self-exploration.
Cara graduated Magna Cum Laude from DePaul University with a degree in Psychology. During this time, Cara trained at an outpatient eating disorder facility in Chicago. Cara earned her Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. Cara completed her clinical training at the Bette D. Harris Family and Child Clinic, where she worked with children, families, couples, and individuals. Cara has since provided therapy in correctional facilities, as well as inpatient, day treatment, and hospital settings.
Cara has experience in facilitating therapy groups including evidence-based treatment approaches including Dialectical Behavioral. Cara moved to Oregon for several years to be closer to nature. During this time, she primarily worked in the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Inpatient Unit in a psychiatric residential facility for adolescents where she facilitated therapy groups and provided individual and family counseling, as well as crisis management.
Cara returned to her home of Chicago, to fulfill her dream of earning her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and is currently in her third year of her graduate program. Cara utilizes a strength-based approach in therapy and believes that each individual holds the skills they need to live their most meaningful life. Outside of the therapy office, Cara enjoys spending time with her animals, exercising, and listening to music.
